When it comes to sports, I usually have a majority of favorite players around every league. But sticking with the topic, if I had to pick my favorite male and female athletes it would have to be Carlos Sainz and Amanda Nunes. Carlos Sainz is the number two driver, behind the young and talented Charles Leclerc at Ferrari. Starting his Formula One career in 2015, paired with Max Verstappen at Toro Rosso, Sainz showed early determination in pushing his car to the edge and really exploring every angle of the track. The Spainard comes from a rich Formula One history and has replaced seats vacated by two legends in Fernando Alonzo and Sebastian Vettel, only proving Sainz is always up for the challenge. Constantly landing himself in points positions, Sainz proves every race that he still has the determination and bravery to go for the gaps when they are there. I started following Carlos when he drove for McLaren alongside Lando Norris. Sainz has yet to win a grand-prix in F1, but he consistently places that cherry-red Ferrari in the points almost every weekend. Carlos is known around F1 to be the quiet asset that would rather race than talk. He is also known for his funny pranks that he constantly pulls on his teammates. For my female athlete, it definitely has to be Amanda Nunes. I follow UFC quite heavily as well and watching her rise to fame was something magnificent. She became known for her brute knockout power and backed it up every step of the way, even beating the brakes off of the legends Ronda Rousey and Cyborg. She has a 21-4 record in the UFC and is still defending her title with a fight coming in a few weeks. Just seeing her beat up everyone that the critics said she would lose to just made it that much more fun to watch.
